Commenting on Articles

Our comment section is where readers share reactions, discuss stories, and connect with the community. This guide explains how commenting works and how to use the comment tools responsibly.

1. Posting a Comment

You can share your thoughts on any article that allows comments.

To post a comment:

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the article

  2. Type your message in the comment box

  3. Click Submit

Please make sure everything you write follows our Community Rules & Guidelines.

2. Editing Your Comments

You may edit your comments anytime—there’s no time limit.

When updating a comment:

  • Keep changes aligned with our Community Rules & Guidelines

  • Avoid rewriting your comment in a misleading way (e.g., changing your message after people have replied)

3. Upvoting and Downvoting Comments

You can react to other users’ comments to help highlight good discussions and filter out low-quality content.

Upvotes

Use an upvote to show that a comment is:

  • Helpful

  • Insightful

  • Funny

  • Well-written

  • Adds value to the conversation

Downvotes

Use a downvote when a comment is:

  • Off-topic

  • Not helpful

  • Low-effort

  • Misleading

  • Adds no value to the discussion

Vote responsibly. Mass downvoting or using multiple accounts to manipulate comment visibility is not allowed.

4. Sorting Comments

Depending on site features, you may sort comments by:

  • Best (hottest comments first)

  • Newest

  • Oldest

  • Top (most upvoted comments first)

  • Controversial (comments with most upvotes and downvotes)

This helps you browse discussions the way you prefer.

5. Comment Removal

Comments may be removed if they:

  • Break our Community Rules

  • Contain spam or self-promotion

  • Include hate speech or harassment

  • Attempt to derail the discussion

  • Encourage harmful or illegal behavior

Removed comments may affect your ability to comment in the future.

6. Reporting a Comment

If you encounter a comment that violates our guidelines:

  • Click the Report button

  • Briefly select the reason

  • Our moderation team will review it as soon as possible

Reporting helps keep our community safe and enjoyable.

7. Keeping the Community Healthy

To maintain a respectful and productive space:

  • Stay on topic

  • Debate ideas, not people

  • Avoid insults and personal attacks

  • Don’t spam or post repeated messages

  • Think before you post—your words have impact
