Professor Bethan Davies, a glaciologist at the University of Newcastle, clarified that the feature is nothing more than a large iceberg trapped and melting near the coastline. Through analysis of past satellite imagery, she confirmed it’s simply an iceberg grounded in an area of moving sea ice.
